What is NFPA 1851?
NFPA 1851 is a program for Selection,
Care, and Maintenance of Protective Fire Fighting Ensembles and is designed to
reduce the safety and health risks associated with the improper selection, poor
maintenance, and inadequate care of protective ensembles. Turnout Services can
help you reduce safety and health risks pertaining to the "poor maintenance and
inadequate care" part of that equation. While your state may not require and
NFPA 1851 Program, it is the only standard of it's kind in existence and can
help all fire departments minimize risks and track cleaning and
repairs. |

- Annual Inspection
- Advanced cleaning, twice a year
- Record Keeping
- Certified Technicians to inspect, clean, and repair
- Repairs using manufacturer-approved methods
Implementing an NFPA 1851 compliant program saves lives,
money, and time.
Maintaining the maximum level of protection
through proper care and maintenance saves lives. The majority of PPE failures
are the result of improper or poor maintenance, excessive wear, or inadequate
care. Fire fighters depend on their Personal Protective Ensembles (PPE's) to
keep them safe in extreme conditions; they face enough dangers without exposing
themselves to the risks associated with poor maintenance and inadequate care of
their PPE's. We provide proper maintenance and care as well as rigorous
inspection to help minimize those risks.
We know that lives are the most important
thing that can be saved through this program, but it also saves money. Properly
cared for turnouts will last longer than those not properly cared for and we
offer discounted cleaning rates for customers who opt to set up a 3-year
program.
We provide cradle-to-grave tracking on all
items, to allow you to determine your needs more efficiently. While
implementing a tracking system may seem daunting, we make it easy for you.
Using the Advanced Protective Tracking (APT) program, we barcode and track all
items for you and then send you reports on the cleaning and repair performed on
the item, allowing you to make well informed decisions on your needs and back
up any decisions made regarding that item's use.fs32dv
